The primary focus of the Medical Career and Science Institute is to expose students to health professions and to get them on track for relevant coursework as they prepare for high school. During camp, students will participate in a structured educational curriculum that includes lectures and labs in algebra, anatomy/physiology, trigonometry, and chemistry. Students will have the opportunity to interact with various area practicing healthcare professionals. During these sessions, healthcare professionals will discuss their professions and highlight educational requirements. Sessions will occur in a clinical, classroom, and lab setting. The focus of clinical activities will be to provide the student with hands-on experience, as well as observe health professionals in a clinical setting.
Starting this year, the Medical Career and Science Institute will offer an Advanced Camp II. The camp will be college focused, with tours at local colleges and universities, as well as the opportunity to learn about different health related programs available at each educational intitution.
