[Lexington, KY] — The Bluegrass Workforce Innovation Board (BGWIB) which, oversees the activities of the Kentucky Career Center – Bluegrass, dedicated a section of their strategic plan to providing access to resources that assist jobseekers with addressing barriers to employment. As they continue to work toward assisting with employment and training needs for the citizens of the Bluegrass, they understand the barriers that some job seekers face and that employment can’t be maintained if these barriers are not addressed.
With that in mind, they along with the new Director of Workforce Services have partnered with the Child Care Council of Kentucky (CCC of KY) to bring the services available from this amazing organization to job seekers visiting the comprehensive Kentucky Career Center – Bluegrass in Lexington.
On Tuesdays, the Child Care Council provides information on how to apply for Child Care Assistance, how to find child care and information on how to start a Family Child Care in your home. In addition, they will have office hours on Tuesdays and will be meeting with clients that are wanting to start a Family Child Care business.
Debbie Link, Executive Director of the Child Care Council of Kentucky added, “We are excited to partner with the Kentucky Career Center -Bluegrass to serve as a resource for clients that are seeking employment. Being onsite will allow us to answer questions about Early Childhood and give information on the Child Care Assistance program. Access to quality, affordable early childhood education is a right that all families should have, and we are here to help."
The Director of Workforce for the Bluegrass, Tiffanie Reeves also added, “We are excited about this partnership, and looking forward to recruiting more partners like the Child Care Council of Kentucky, that will provide valuable resources to remove job seekers barriers to employment.”
