Lexington, Kentucky— Date: 06/30/25  Earlier this year, the Bluegrass Local Workforce Development Area released a competitive request for proposals for the delivery of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services and oversight of the Kentucky Career Center–Bluegrass/American Job Centers.

Following a thorough review process, a volunteer committee—comprised of members of the Bluegrass Workforce Innovation Board and a representative from the Governing Board of Local Elected Officials—unanimously selected Equus Workforce Solutions to continue serving as the region’s Direct Service Provider.

Equus, a familiar name in the Bluegrass, has provided workforce services in the region since 2018. Their proven track record of strong community partnerships, impactful service delivery, and responsive leadership played a key role in the committee’s decision.

“We received several excellent proposals,” said Jon Dougherty, Chair of the Bluegrass Workforce Innovation Board. “But the established relationships Equus staff have with local businesses and partners, combined with our strong working relationship with their leadership team, made the committee’s decision clear.”

“Equus Workforce Solutions is honored to continue delivering workforce training and employment services in the Bluegrass region.” Sara Dodeci, Regional Director of Equus Workforce Solution added, “This contract award represents a critical opportunity to connect individuals with the skills, resources, and support they need to succeed in today’s economy. We are committed to empowering job seekers and strengthening the region’s workforce through innovative partnerships and results-driven solutions.”

The new contract will go into effect on July 1, 2025, and is reviewed annually to ensure continued excellence in serving both job seekers and employers throughout the 17-county Bluegrass region.
