[Lexington, KY] — The Bluegrass Workforce Innovation Board (BGWIB) voted unanimously on December 6th in their final meeting of 2023 to appoint Tiffanie Reeves as the new Director of Workforce Services under the Bluegrass Area Development District, effective December 11, 2023.
Reeves will fill this leadership role for the 17-county area of the Bluegrass, representing the workforce under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and providing oversight to the Kentucky Career Center – Bluegrass/American Job Center and their locations throughout central Kentucky. With more than a decade of experience in the workforce, first as a client and for the last several years as a Manager, both working with clients and training staff, Reeves brings a new, refreshing, and realistic outlook to client service and engagement. Reeves stays engaged with clients and staff and the struggles that face today’s jobseekers.
Under Reeves, the Kentucky Career Center – Bluegrass/American Job Center’s goal is to meet the client – whether it’s a job seeker or a business – where they are, with plans to improve technology services by offering virtual training, remote connection capabilities, and updating computers and onsite training facilities. Staff under Reeves will resume providing in-person services in local libraries and other partner organizations for individuals who prefer that level of connection, a service that was halted in 2020 due to the pandemic.
In addition, Reeves’ team is working with businesses to ensure they are made aware of WIOA services that assist with employee recruitment and retention, engaging more with companies' HR departments and connecting the employers in the Bluegrass to the job seekers who are ready to work or assist with training their current staff to keep them competitive.
It is likely that if you worked with a community organization that has engaged with the Kentucky Career Center – Bluegrass/American Job Center in the past several years you will have met Reeves. Her engagement with organizations may be the most endearing trait she brings to the Director position, previously making time in addition to her managerial duties to set up at various locations that work with the hard-to-serve and engage with their clients and staff about the services available to them. This is not something that is common to people in Reeves's previous or current position but comes from a belief in what WIOA has to offer and a dedication to service. As an example of that commitment to service, Reeves will be the first Director of Workforce Services in Bluegrass history to have her office located at the Kentucky Career Center/American Job Center, allowing her to engage with staff and clients daily.
Reeves stated when accepting the position, “I am truly excited for the future of workforce development in Bluegrass, and I am thrilled to be the one chosen to lead that charge on behalf of the BGWIB and the Bluegrass Local Elected Officials. I thank them for this opportunity.”
