[Bluegrass, KY] — Bridges Out of Poverty workshop helps us understand the causes of poverty, the hidden rules of each economic class, language barriers, family structure, and more. The goal of the Bluegrass area in providing this training is to help us begin to create a path to financial stability and independence for our neighbors, but by working together, we can eliminate poverty in our communities.

Recently, Bluegrass Workforce Manager, Tiffanie Reeves received her certification as a trainer in Bridges Out of Poverty. Tiffanie was motivated to pursue this certification, because of the profound effect the training had on her.  She explains the training as providing attendees with, “The word poverty often brings about strong emotions and opinions. It’s easy to take sides or blame a person or an institution, but the Bridges Out of Poverty tools help us replace judgment with understanding. It’s a comprehensive approach to understanding the dynamics that cause and maintain poverty.”

More than understanding, it offers the tools needed for a community to prevent, reduce, and alleviate poverty. This is done with strategies that are specific for improving the outcome of people who are living in poverty and includes some eye-opening discussions on “living in the tyranny of the moment”, “generational poverty” and “the benefits cliff”.

Individuals or organizations interested in scheduling this training should contact Tiffanie Reeves. Additional information and contact information is available at ckycareers.com/bop or email Tiffanie directly at treeves@bgadd.org.
